Our client is a UK-based craft gin company that has grown into the UK’s number one gin club. They operate a subscription-based service delivering exclusive craft gins, mixers, and snacks to tens of thousands of members across the country. In addition to their subscription business, they run an online store selling a range of gins and gin-related products. The fulfilment activity is managed within their larger subscription business distribution centre.
They are now seeking a Supply Chain Operations Manager to oversee the end-to-end supply chain for their online store. The successful candidate will ensure smooth and cost-effective supply chain operations, working closely with third-party logistics (3PL) partners, warehouses, and carriers. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing relationships and optimising operational processes.
This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain cost and service level agreements with 3PL distribution partners
- Oversee the consolidation and dispatch of subscription boxes, ensuring orders are dispatched on time, in full, and within budget
- Manage the fulfilment of global B2B orders, ensuring efficiency in consolidation and dispatch
- Coordinate cost-effective and timely transport logistics to ensure products arrive as scheduled
- Analyse supply chain data and report performance to senior management, ensuring all 3PL and carrier orders are accurately invoiced
- Oversee HMRC-related compliance, including maintaining duty records, deferment accounts, and drawback claims
- Identify and drive operational improvements with warehouses and carriers, ensuring continuous enhancement of service delivery
- Negotiate costs and budgets with suppliers and logistics partners to optimise expenditure
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) related to pick, pack, and delivery performance
- Work closely with internal teams to improve efficiency and ensure seamless fulfilment processes
Skills, Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a similar supply chain or operations management role
- Strong background in B2C fulfilment and shipping within a retail setting
- Proven experience managing high-volume third-party logistics relationships (pick, pack, and dispatch)
- Comfortable setting and managing demanding operational SLAs (e.g., order fulfilment, damaged/lost goods, delivery delays)
- Strong negotiation skills with experience handling supplier and logistics cost discussions
- Highly numerate and data-driven, with proficiency in Excel and reporting tools
- Excellent presentation and communication skills to report on operational performance
- Experience dealing with alcohol duty and bonding is highly desirable but not essential
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, start-up-like environment while maintaining operational control
- Passion for gin is a plus!
