Our UK client is an innovative subscription-based company in the retail and beverage sector. They’re growing rapidly and are now looking for a skilled and analytical Senior Management Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and wants to move beyond just reporting the numbers — someone who can dive deep, challenge the status quo, and influence commercial decisions.
You’ll be a key part of a small but mighty finance team, working closely with the Head of Finance and CFO to manage month-end processes, develop financial reports, and support business growth through proactive analysis and insight. This is a strategic role that blends classic accounting with commercial impact.
This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead monthly financial close, including P&L analysis, journal postings, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Perform turnover and cost of goods sold analysis
- Own stock management and valuation, reconciling balances with Xero
- Conduct monthly reviews with business units, providing cost analysis and driving accountability
- Support the Head of Finance and CFO in implementing new processes and control improvements
- Create rolling forecasts and scenario models for costs, income, and cash flow
- Analyse order-level profitability and develop reporting tools to aid financial understanding
- Collaborate with other departments on project tracking, budgeting, and forecasting
- Assist with audit preparation, retail bond management, and year-end processes
- Provide cover during periods of absence for other finance team members
Skills, Experience & Requirements
Required
- ACCA, CIMA, or SAIPA/SAICA equivalent qualified, with 3+ years post-qualification experience
- Previous experience in a fast-paced finance role, ideally in retail or inventory-based businesses
- Strong Excel and data modelling skills
- Experience using Xero and G Suite is a plus
- Comfortable challenging assumptions and explaining the story behind the numbers
- A self-starter with an analytical mindset and a love for process improvement
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and explain financial concepts clearly
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and confidentiality around sensitive data
