With a strong focus on efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction, they are dedicated to delivering high-quality products while building long-term supplier relationships. Their procurement team plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of operations, and they are now looking for a motivated Purchasing Assistant to join their growing business.
As a Purchasing Assistant, you will support the Head of Purchasing in managing procurement activities, from identifying purchasing needs to liaising with suppliers and ensuring timely deliveries. The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and negotiation skills who can help maximise profitability and minimise risk for the business.
This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the ordering and receiving of IT equipment.
- Identify purchasing needs and source standard and non-standard stock items.
- Track orders, monitor stock levels, and ensure timely delivery.
- Report shortages, order discrepancies, and resolve supplier issues (shortages, poor quality, missing items).
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and uphold the company’s procurement strategy.
- Undertake stock control and administrative tasks.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Support inventory planning to maintain suitable stock levels.
- Oversee the procurement process alongside one part-time staff member.
Skills, Experience & Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar procurement or purchasing role (desirable).
- Background in the IT industry (advantageous).
- Strong organisational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and perform under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with product SKUs.
- Positive, proactive attitude with strong attention to detail.
- Degree-level qualification.
