Operations Associate

Description

A fast-growing executive search and consultancy business working with private investor-backed companies in critical sectors is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Operations Associate. The successful candidate will support executive search and M&A research projects by managing internal operations, conducting market and candidate research, and helping to streamline back-office functions. This role is ideal for a proactive self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, low-structure environment and is eager to grow professionally. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, an analytical mindset, and a passion for learning and improving systems. Previous experience in professional services is beneficial, but not required — attitude, initiative, and ambition matter more than credentials.

This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Support day-to-day management of internal tools including CRM and ATS systems
  • Coordinate meetings and manage scheduling
  • Develop and maintain internal processes to improve efficiency and scale

Candidate Sourcing & Research

  • Identify, research, and reach out to high-potential candidates through LinkedIn, social platforms, databases, and networks
  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitor activity, and talent landscapes
  • Build profiles of companies and executives to support search and M&A assignments

Search & Client Management

  • Help manage the full executive search lifecycle — from research to candidate screening and communications
  • Assist with business development materials and meeting preparation
  • Produce reports and updates for client projects

Data & Insights

  • Track and analyse search data to identify patterns and improve project delivery
  • Provide insights that help refine strategy and support decision-making

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities with high attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar) and CRM/ATS platforms
  • Experience in a professional or client-facing environment is advantageous
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote, and evolving environment
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of operating without constant supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work in an unstructured setting
  • Experience in executive search, recruitment, market research, or consulting is desirable
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn sourcing and Boolean search techniques
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (e.g. formulas, pivot tables)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, HR, or related field is a plus
  • Exposure to private equity, venture capital, or high-growth businesses is beneficial
  • Comfortable using remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Trello, or Notion
  • Interest in career growth into operations, strategy, or client services
  • Demonstrated integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
  • Enthusiastic, solutions-focused team player with a growth mindset
