Our client is a well-established UK-based company in the construction and mechanical services sector is seeking a driven and proactive New Business Development professional to join their team.
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of expanding market reach and bringing qualified new business opportunities into the pipeline. You’ll work with a mix of provided resources and your own initiative to research projects, engage decision-makers, and convert opportunities into tangible sales growth.
This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Use planning portals, social media, tender processes, databases, and networking to identify and bring qualified enquiries into the sales pipeline
- Research contacts, companies, and upcoming projects to maximise exposure and identify potential partners
- Track relevant tenders and identify key project players, including consultants, architects, and contractors
- Engage early with consultants and architects to position the company as a trusted specification partner
- Build and nurture relationships with potential clients through tailored approaches such as CPDs, site visits, and early design support
- Support mechanical consultants and architects by using provided project information to generate new leads
- Leverage the company’s sales process to maximise conversion rates and strengthen market positioning
- Manage and update CRM data accurately within the ERP system to maintain visibility and track progress
Key Targets & Objectives:
- Achieve qualified leads and sales opportunity targets
- Meet gross profit (GP) and marketing/sales qualified lead (MQL/SQL) targets
- Enhance project handover and conversion rates through proactive engagement
Skills, Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a business development or similar office-based role (construction or B2B contract selling experience is a plus)
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong numerical and commercial awareness with a results-driven approach
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Highly organised with excellent planning and time management abilities
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Confident working independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Self-motivated, positive, and customer-focused with a professional, responsible approach
- Ability to build genuine, long-term relationships and represent the company confidently with external stakeholders
