Our UK-based client specialises in underfloor heating and cooling solutions, delivering high-quality, energy-efficient systems for the residential and commercial building sectors. With a strong focus on precision, innovation, and technical excellence, they provide fully designed, compliant, and cost-effective heating systems tailored to meet modern construction standards.
They are now looking for a dedicated Estimating & Design Manager to take full ownership of the design and estimating department, leading a small team to ensure fast, accurate, and high-quality project delivery.
This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Estimating & Design department, providing direction, support, and coaching to team members.
- Oversee the quotation process, reviewing project details and producing accurate underfloor heating (UFH) system designs and estimates.
- Manage and optimise departmental processes to ensure timely, high-quality outputs.
- Create and refine documentation, workflows, and quality standards for the estimating and design function.
- Ensure consistent and accurate updates on the company’s CRM and ERP systems.
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Operations teams to ensure seamless project handovers.
- Monitor KPIs (quote turnaround, accuracy, productivity) and prepare performance reports.
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor new team members as the business continues to grow.
- Stay up to date with UK building regulations and industry standards related to underfloor heating.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, growth, and accountability aligned with the company’s values.
Skills, Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar estimating or design management role.
- Strong CAD and estimating skills in a construction or building technology environment.
- Proven experience managing or mentoring a small team (remote or onsite).
- Excellent IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and CAD software.
- Experience working with ERP or CRM systems.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and time management abilities.
- Commercial awareness with a focus on accuracy and results.
