Our client is a UK-based accountancy practice with over 50 years of experience providing audit, accounts, tax, and advisory services. They work with a wide range of businesses across the UK and are known for their client-focused approach. Going beyond standard compliance, they tailor strategies to support long-term business growth and deliver high-quality service. They are hiring an Accountant to join their Audit & Accounts department. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accounts, tax returns, and leading audits, while also supporting junior team members and managing client relationships.
This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and finalise full accounts under FRS 105/102 1A/102, including bookkeeping and VAT returns
- Prepare tax returns for companies, LLPs, partnerships, and sole traders
- Lead audits from planning through to completion
- Review work of junior members of the audit and accounts team, assisting with their queries and development
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff to aid professional growth
- Work closely with the team to ensure deadlines, budgets, and client expectations are met
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and high professional standards in all work
Skills, Experience & Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in audit and accounts
- Proven experience leading audits independently from planning to completion
- Strong knowledge of FRS 105/102 reporting standards and UK tax compliance
- Proficient in MyWorkpapers and IRIS (or similar accounting software)
- Previous experience working remotely with UK-based clients
- Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects while supporting junior colleagues
